Stephen LaPierre, 74

A graveside service will be held at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the spring for Mr. Stephen Leonard LaPierre, age 74, who passed away at his Tupper Lake home Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Arraignments are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home.

Stephen was born on March 3, 1949 in Tupper Lake, the son of the late Robert and Rena (Greiner) LaPierre. He attended school in Tupper Lake and enlisted in the United States Army April 1967, proudly serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Stephen was honorably discharged in 1970 and three months later, married Nancy Gonyea on April 4, 1970 at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake.

He was employed by the United States Department of Justice as Chief Security Officer at FCI Ray Brook and retired after 20 years of dedicated service in 2002. Stephen enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoyed helping people. He was also a locksmith and held various leadership positions at his local V.F.W. Post.

Stephen was a proud great-grandfather to three. He is survived through his children, Robert LaPierre and his wife Dawn, of Tupper Lake, and Kimberly Dafoe and her husband Richard, of Russell, NY.

He is also survived through his siblings Wayne LaPierre Sr., Brian LaPierre and his wife Mary, Sheila and Lawrence Reandeau and Susan and Charles Rice, all from Tupper Lake. Stephen is also survived through grandchildren Britney Towles, Richard Dafoe III, Dawson LaPierre, Peyton Dafoe-Hodgdon and Jayden Dafoe.

Stephen was predeceased by his brother, Kevin LaPierre and his wife Nancy, who died March 1, 2008.
